Face recognition: from contactless shopping to advanced forensics, challenges and opportunities - Ebroul Izquierdo - Queen Mary, University of London - INGLATERRA

Presentación

Automated face recognition is one of the oldest and probably best understood tasks in computer vision. Due to the plethora of applications, it is also the basis for a fast evolving technology drawing attention from researchers and practitioners in several fields including forensics, biometrics, visual information retrieval, automated surveillance, contactless shopping and internet driven social networking. In this talk important aspects of face recognition and crucial applications will be presented. Starting with the main still open technical challenges, some important generic aspects of face recognition will be discussed. The usefulness of face recognition, as a tool with a vast range of applications and flourishing business opportunities, will be outlined. Examples of recent technological developments in two specific application scenarios will be also discussed.
